PDP pledges unity in Plateau State

Abuja - Some candidates defeated in the People's
Democratic Party (PDP) primary polls in the Plateau
State have pledged loyalty to the party.
They allayed fears they are were contemplating to
work against the ruling party in the general election.
The aspirants made their position known after an
interactive meeting with the gubernatorial flag
bearer of the party, Gyang Nyam Pwajok, in Jos.
Contestants for various positions drawn across the
17 local government areas in the state attended the
event.
Speaking to shortly after the meeting, Emmanuel
Goar, who contested for senatorial seat in Plateau
central zone, said the meeting was aimed at
assessing the challenges faced during the party
primaries.
"It is the right step in the right direction," Goar said.
Goar said after intensive deliberations and exchange
of views on the way forward, the aspirants resolved
to work together as a team to ensure the victory of
the party.

"We have agreed to submit ourselves and go round
to solicit the support of our supporters to ensure the
victory of PDP at all levels," he said.
Contestant from Southern Plateau Barrister Timothy
Parlong, who vied for the house of representative
position, commended the PDP flag bearer for
inviting those that lost in the primaries to solicit
their support.
Parlong heaped praise on Pwajok.
"Whether you agree with him or not, he steadfastly
put his energy into serving the state as he believed it
was right. He is a humble young man and served the
redemption government diligently," he said.
Parlong said Pwajok was a worthy winner in the
primaries.
"He is somebody that labored in this campaign with
honor. This is what motivates us to agree to work as
a family to ensure the victory of the party."
Pwajok expressed his joy over the outcome of the
meeting.
"There was the need to meet the aspirants to find
common ground to deal with the challenges ahead.
The fact that somebody lost an election does not
mean that he lacks followership," he added.
