Jos - Mr Ezekiel Dalyop, the Plateau Head of Service
(HOS), on Monday, called for prayers for the nation
in 2015, following the depreciation value of oil in the
international market which had negative impact on
workers' salaries.
Dalyop made the call at a news conference in Jos,
saying that other concerns of the nation that called
for prayers in 2015 was the general elections
scheduled to take place early in the year.
He said "honestly, every year comes with a lot of
expectations and the year 2015 will be a year of
mixed feelings for many people, especially civil
servants.
"This is majorly because of the general elections
which are around the corner; it is a year that we are
going to have another transition and we need to
pray about it.

"People are praying that it will go well with the
nation, and this is the prayer of Plateau workers and
the people.
"The workers are part of the society, what affects the
society affects us, if there is anything that we are
asking God for, it is that He should give us peaceful
transition into 2015.''
The head of service then said that "our second
request is that God should heal the nation's
economy which is in very bad shape.
"We have discovered that since the fall of the naira
against the dollar arising from oil sales in the
international market, it has not been business as
usual for the nation.
"We are praying to God to restore the strength of the
naira against the dollar in order to restore back the
glory of the nation.''
He, however, described the turnout of workers in the
state after the Christmas break as commendable,
dismissing insinuations that some could not return
because they were owed salaries in arrears.
"Workers are back to their offices for work, not all of
them have resumed, but a good number are back.
"The celebration coincided with the weekend and
workers had four good days of rest.''
