Aso Rock: Dealing With The Pentecostal Pastors

The Presidential election is over and a new tenant
will occupy Aso Rock. He must deal with the
Pentecostal Pastors, who often parade the villa for
personal profit. Those powerful Pastors "caged" the
President for over six years, making him insensitive
to Nigerians.
Lest we forget, this election left us with clear
winners and big losers. At the top of the list, of big
losers, we have our spiritual leaders. Prominent
among them are the Super Pastors within the
Pentecostal movement.
Many of them are frequent at the Presidential Villa,
others are not; many speak in tongues, others don't.
Yet, all together they fell flat and woefully too, on
one side. The loser's!
How then should Aso Rock treat them?
Why are they the big losers?
The Pentecostal Pastors became the spiritual
casualties of March 28 for their roles before and
during the campaign.
First, they openly endorsed and campaigned
tirelessly for the re-election of a Christian president,
even at all cost.
Text messages were circulated among church
members, not to vote Buhari, even up to when
voters were on the queue for accreditation!
Secondly, they vainly supplied their spiritual
services, even with ceaseless prayer and fasting.
The Pastors' spiritual work which started at the
Wailing Wall, at Mount Camel in Jerusalem, was
followed by exploratory trip to Turkey which
resulted in the infamous Nigeria Islamization Theory
put on audio CD. This widely circulated CD called for
many presentations both in Nigeria and abroad.
Yet, contrary to expectation, General Buhari, a
Muslim, called a candidate with an Islamic agenda,
won the election. The incumbent President, a
Christian beloved and surrounded by "big men of
God" failed in his re-election bid.
What a strange outcome? Yet, it comes with many
lessons particularly to Christians. God is not
mocked. He is not a respecter of person.
With this confusing outcome, one wonders if God is
in Nigeria. And if God is here, as many Nigerians
still believe, then many of our spiritual leaders are
hopelessly out of touch and out of tune with Him.
There are no many explanations possible.

A few of the lessons are:
The alarming number of false prophecies, about the
election outcome proves many of our "prophets" or
spiritual leaders are blind seers with spiritual ears
too dull to hear.
And like fish out of water, they are permanently out
of place.
It is the duty of the government to make sure all
spiritual activities are carried out within the law. The
Pastors and the Pentecostal churches are less
regulated. Moreover, this regulation is a necessary
service, which the government must render to the
church. The church needs to avoid excesses and
corruption.
Two, this election also shows, in a country with
many religions, using religion as a divisive tool is
dangerous. The fear of islamaization or possible
Christianization of the country will continue to
trouble many good citizens until something concrete
is done within the constitution and by purposeful
policies to establish explicitly our national
secularity.
Three, if Nigeria is truly a secular state,
then Aso Rock would not be a permanent palace for
religious activities or second homes to prominent
Pastors or any religious leaders, and government
will not spend money to promote religion without
breaking the law.
Nigerian Pastors and our National Problem
Pastor Tunde Bakare, Primate Elijah and Rev.
Fr. Ejike Mbaka gave serious warning about the very
slippery road taken by many of the Pentecostal
Church Leaders.
Pastors should feed the flocks of Christ. They are the
strength of character of any nation. Pastors serve
God by serving the people; and act as guides to
political leaders.
Unfortunately, many Pastors, by parading
themselves often at the Presidential Villa, become
unchecked agents of national corruption.
Pastors are part of our national problems. They
could no longer be trusted channels or instruments
of divine solution, as they ought.
How then should Aso Rock deal with them?
The Roles of Pastors in Aso Rock
Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka during his New Year
message acknowledged that the President
surrounded himself with Pastors who are like
"vultures" and "hooligans" who are at Aso Rock to
merchandize anointing. He counselled the
President–elect not to surround himself with the
'wrong people.'
Should we endure "vultures" that for over six years
polluted the Presidential Villa with the damaging
doctrine of "business as usual?" Should we bear
with "men of God" who are benefiting greatly from a
corrupt system?
Obviously, No. Aso Rock should not let-in those the
Rev. Father called "wolves around the President",
who parade Aso Rock with false prophecy delivering
their divinations for rewards in forms of oil blocks,
money or other personal gain.

Yes, religious leaders should not gain undue access
to Aso Rock to influence the work going on therein.
It is very dangerous to mix politics with religion. The
government should not meddle with "men of God"
who for money and power are capable of worst
crime.
Those men use religion to achieve their main
purpose of perpetuating poverty by propagating
pervasive corruption for personal profit.
Such men must be stopped for Nigeria to develop
and prosper.
Henceforth, the Prophets must separate their Holy
office from the corridor of power at the Presidential
Villa. And if any Prophet or Pastor is obliged to visit
Aso Rock, it shall be to declare, "Thus says the Lord"
or to counsel the President or members of his team
on issues of national interest or to speak as the
"voice of the voiceless" majority.
The Church Revolution
Nigeria democracy is established. But its fruits need
to spread to everywhere and to everyone. The
church and its leadership must play a leading role.
Sad, this is impossible with the current corrupt
church settings. The church must change.
For that change to happen, Pastor Tunde Bakare
proposed, "Pastor chasing Private jets in the name
of the gospel should be sent to jail."
He prophesied: "All General overseers and religious
leaders must go to prison."
Strange enough, we are close to something: Chai
Buhari is back!
And so, God is in Nigeria. He speaks loud enough
for deaf ears to hear. Yes, we don't want our Pastors
in prison. And what if it happens? Let it bring out a
John Bunyan of Nigeria!
Or what if this is a prelude to the latter rain of
blessing set to fall upon this nation?
The time of ignorance, dark deception, brain
bashing and mental manipulation is gone forever.
We have come, a long way, to the era of the new
church.
And the final Church revolution is at hand. God
Himself is coming down to gather the wheat into His
garner and as for the chaff he will burn with
unquenchable fire.
The Change is Here
For now, let Aso Rock be hired out to a competent
and disciplined professional team who will
concentrate on what matters most: the act of
governance.
Nigeria will be on her way to greatness when the
team in Aso Rock thinks clearly, makes right
decisions at the right time, and is willing and
unafraid of hard work to lead Nigeria forward to
progress, prosperity and lasting development.
And of course, God is in Nigeria and He will never
fail us.
Henceforth, there are no more places at Aso Rock
for Super Pastors, who use their unction for
personal profit; no more room in the Villa for
Pastors thinking their carnal calculations called
"prophesy" will bring them the lust after oil blocks.
In the words of Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama:
"So, I am so optimistic that Nigerians, despite all
the challenges we are facing, religious challenges,
political challenges, security challenges, we are
going to overcome and Nigeria will be back, healthy,
strong and ready to go."
