Didier Drogba Nets Hat-Trick For New Team
Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has netted a hat-trick in what would be his first full appearance for Montreal Impact at the Major League Soccer in the United States.
The Ivorian legend helped his team defeat Chicago Fire 4 – 3.
Drogba, who came-in as a substitute a fortnight ago became the first player ever to score a hat-trick within his first two MLS games.
The 37-year-old, who helped Chelsea win the coveted UEFA champions league in 2002 moved to the US to join Montreal Impact this summer.
However, the former African footballer of the year was not happy with the overall performance, despite his hat trick.
Speaking shortly after the game, Drogba said: “For me, it’s not a good result. The most important thing is that you get the three points, but when you look at the game itself, you know we’ve got a lot of things to change and to work on. There’s always room for improvement in this team.”
Drogba showed his love for a fan by gifting him his jersey after the game. He added:“The crowd was amazing. And, you know, this Man of the Match [trophy] that they gave me at the end, it’s for them. I give it to them.”
