PDP Youth Group Throws Support For Governor Dickson

Contrary to the call by the All Progressives Congress for the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson to start preparing his handover notes ahead of the December 5 gubernatorial elections, the Peoples Democratic Party youth group has declared support for the governor in the forthcoming election.

According to Daily Trust reports, the group, National Youth Restoration Vanguard issued a statement through its national coordinator of the group, Abubakar Ibrahim Babangida, saying the group was able to verify the extent to which Governor Dickson has performed in office after a tour of the state.

The coordinator said that despite the fallen crude oil prices and naira devaluation, the Dickson-led administration made sure that such did not totally cripple economic activities in the state.

He said that it is apparent that the governor was able to properly manage the crisis that has thrown other states into dire financial straits.

He said: “The spread of his developmental efforts across the state is something that is worthy of adaptation at national level, as it is a practice that can help build cohesion. What we saw in Bayelsa was a state, whose population was unanimous in applauding the achievements recorded in the past four years with a unified clamour for a repeat of another four years.”

As a projection for the 2019 general elections, Babangida said he was hopeful about the fact that Governor Dickson’s re-election will be a great opportunity for the former ruling party to come back to power.

He urged every member of the party most especially the aspirants who had lost in the party’s primary election not to keep the governor at arm’s length but unite to retain power in the state and at the national level.

However, the director general of the campaign organisation for Senator Emmanuel Paulker renewal 2015, Ayakeme Whisky had last week lashed out on the former president and the PDP in the state for depriving the lawmaker from the state’s gubernatorial race.
