The Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, recently traveled with his entourage to Mecca for Hajj.
The Emir was pictured performing prayers on Friday, September 18, at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
The photos were shared by one Bashir Ahmad on his Twitter handle.
Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims. It must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence.
The traditional monarch was spotted pressing his mobile device.
Hajj is one of the greatest religious observances in Islam and it takes place in Saudi Arabia.
The traditional monarch had been announced as Amirul Hajj (leader of Nigerian delegation to this year’s Hajj exercise) by Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
About 20 Nigerian pilgrims reportedly lost their lives in Saudi Arabia since the beginning of this year’s Hajj exercise, according to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
