W’African Nursing College honours Afe Babalola
The West African College of Nursing will bestow its
honorary Fellowship Award on legal luminary,
philanthropist and the proprietor, Afe Babalola
University, Ado-Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola, during its
biennial general meeting holding between July 21 and
25 in Accra, Ghana.
A letter signed by the Executive Secretary of the
WACN, Okedo Henrietta, dated April 16, said Babalola
would be honoured in recognition of "founding the
fastest growing private university in Africa."
The WACN said, "We appreciate you for the
development of human resource in Nigeria and
indeed in Africa through the provision of quality
education. This is with particular reference to the
swiftness in which you are reforming education and
your doggedness to turn out professionals in all
areas, especially in the nursing profession.
"With the establishment of a nursing department,
coupled with the improved standard of education
and practical skills being impacted on nurses in Afe
Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, there is no doubt that
the long-awaited reform in nursing is already in sight.
"This is in tandem with the overall goal for which the
WACN was established .We congratulate you on the
award and we pray that God would continue to use
you to reform education in the region."
