Ronaldo, Messi Not World's Best- Roberto Carlos

Lionel Messi won the UEFA Player of the year award recently, but he is not the best player in the world.

The accolade for the best player in the world does not go to his La Liga counterpart, Cristiano Ronaldo either. So, who is the best player in the world right now?

According to Roberto Carlos, former Brazilian football star, Barcelona’s number 11, Neymar, is the best in the world.

The former free-kick specialist, who made this known during a promotional event in Spain, told reporters he thinks his fellow countryman deserves the accolade more.

None of these two players is being dubbed the world’s best

The former Real Madrid left back, according to CBS SPORT, said: “People are always talking about whether Messi or Ronaldo is the best, but for me it’s Neymar.

“The Neymar we see at Barcelona is his best version. It is too much responsibility for him to be Brazil’s leader already.”

Neymar is a more established player for his national side, with his 46 goals in 67 matches for Brazil putting him way ahead of the other stars in comparison.

Real Madrid coach, Rafa Benite, however, differs from Carlos, as he believes that his star player, Ronaldo, remains the best in the world, especially after the Portuguese captain broke Raul Gonzalez’s goalscoring record at the Bernabeu.
